Participants will examine how these alterations affect mobility, balance, and overall function in older adults. The session will also discuss prevention and rehabilitation strategies to address changes in muscle quality and support optimal functional outcomes.

Odessa Addison

DPT, PhD

Odessa Addison, DPT, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine and a Research Health Scientist in the Maryland VA Health Care System. Her primary research focus is using lifestyle interventions to improve muscle and mobility function in older adults with chronic co-morbid conditions. She has been funded by the Foundation for Physical Therapy, NIH, and VA and currently has multiple funded research projects exploring the effect interventions such as resistance exercise on improving balance, muscle and mobility function in older adults.
