Webinar Description

After exploring the differences in our older adult population, specifically by generational influences, this webinar will analyze the musical genres of the cohorts and discuss how music can be used to promote participation and activity in the older adult.   The triple Ds will be explored and ideas on how to engage these individuals with physical activity.   There will be discussion on how the cognitive levels of Claudia Allen can help PTs in determining appropriate interventions.  Finally, we will consider how music can help introduce HIIT style interventions for older adults including those with cognitive issues.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the difference in our current geriatric population by comparing and contrasting the silent generation and the early boomers

  • Discuss the difference between exercising with and to music

  • Explore the use of the Karvonen method to utilize music to allow for HIIT style interventions for the older adult.
