Webinar Description

This session builds upon the CSM 2025 presentation by exploring how the 5Ms of Geriatric Care, CAPTE standards, the ICF model, and APTA’s updated 2025 Competency-Based Education/Entrustable Professional Activities can be applied in practice. Attendees will participate in discussions on integrating these frameworks into clinical settings and educational pathways. The session will span the full education continuum, from entry-level PT/PTA to advanced practice and board certification.

Learning Objectives

  • Integrate the 5Ms of Geriatric Care with the ICF model and CAPTE standards to support individualized, outcome-driven care for aging adults

  • Apply entry-level competencies in Geriatric Physical Therapy across the Domains of Learning and Entrustable Professional Activities to advance clinical decision-making and patient management

  • Promote active student engagement with aging adults to reduce age bias and enhance the development of personalized plans of care

Presenter

Jill Heitzman

PT, DPT, PhD

Dr. Heitzman, PT, DPT, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Program Director at Maryville University in St. Louis with over 40 years of leadership within the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy. She is board certified in both geriatric and neurological physical therapy, holds a clinical wound specialist certification, and currently serves as Vice President of APTA Missouri. Her research focuses on balance, aging, and cognitive issues, and she has authored numerous publications and presentations at state, national, and international levels.
