Webinar Description

This webinar examines the application of the Geriatric 5Ms framework (Mind, Mobility, Medications, Multicomplexity, and What Matters Most) to the physical therapy management of older adults with heart failure (HF). While current clinical practice guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for HF rehabilitation, they offer limited guidance on the unique needs of older adults living with this complex chronic condition. This session encourages physical therapists to move beyond a mobility-focused approach and adopt a comprehensive geriatric framework that optimizes health outcomes and quality of life in older adults with HF.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine the application of the Geriatric 5Ms framework (Mind, Mobility, Medications, Multicomplexity, and What Matters Most) in the care of older adults with heart failure.

  • Provide physical therapists and assistants with practical strategies for integrating the 5Ms into evidence-based, patient-centered treatment plans for older adults with HF.
